MADISON — On Friday, May 7, at 7 p.m. a documentary will air on some area ABC television affiliates on the Haiti Medical Mission of Wisconsin (HMMW).
The documentary will air in Madison, Eau Claire, La Crosse, and Wausau in Wisconsin and Waterloo/Dubuque in Iowa. Those outside the viewing areas can watch live streaming at www.wkow.com People from the HMMW board will be at the station in Madison to answer phones for viewers wishing to contribute.
Diana Henry, newscaster for Channel 27 in Madison, accompanied the most recent medical team visiting Thiotte, Haiti. She spent four days with the medical team and also visited an orphanage in Port-au-Prince to assess what has been happening in Haiti since the January 12 earthquake.
HMMW is an organization headed by Dr. Maureen Murphy which provides quality health care for the people of Thiotte, Haiti, and the surrounding areas by partnering with the staff of the Sacred Coeur Clinic in Haiti.
St. Joseph Parish in Baraboo and St. Cecilia Parish in Wisconsin Dells help support the HMMW.
The village of Thiotte has a population of about 25,000 people with an additional 20,000 people living within a 10-mile radius.
Each year a team from HMMW stays in Thiotte for seven days, during which they are guests of Sacred Coeur Parish. The church complex is just across the road from the clinic.
