Let’s form our own ‘humane society’ to protect babies

Editorial logo

When we think of respecting all human life, we usually start with pre-born life in the womb. Naturally that should be the beginning of our focus, since that’s where all human beings begin their existence.

Just ask expectant parents these days. They often talk about their unborn baby by name (for example, our son and his wife have chosen a name for their second daughter, who is due in December). Parents also see ultrasounds of their children in the womb and it’s obvious to them — as it should be to everybody — that this is a baby. Birth is just one stage in the development of that new little person.

Candidate’s record shows extreme views on abortion

To the editor:

As someone with a strong respect for the sanctity of human life, I am deeply disturbed by the radically pro-abortion views of gubernatorial candidate Tom Barrett.

Barrett’s record clearly illustrates his extreme views on abortion. He has supported taxpayer funding of abortion and opposed parental notification laws.

Encouraging to see faith of doctor in his column

To the editor:

It is extremely encouraging for a layperson like me to hear from a medical expert like Dr. Michael Robiolio that “there is never a need for an abortion even in these cases.” The cases referred to in the guest column, “Catholic physician’s perspective on the health care debate,” in the March 25 issue of the Catholic Herald, are rape, incest, and threat to the mother’s life.

‘Ultimate solution’ today is aimed at elderly, infirm

To the editor:

The abortion issue is only one part of a complex Culture of Death equation masterminded by liberal minds and aimed at putting “mother earth” ahead of man, created in the image and likeness of God. So the news about the latest battle for government-run health care would imply.

A broader scrutiny reveals, however, that there is another part of this equation, possibly even more despicable than abortion, a discussion which was unfortunately missed in the health care debate. It is aimed at building a foundation for the “ultimate solution.”
