STOUGHTON — A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Dr. Marlen Frederick Junck on Saturday, Feb. 10, 2018, at 11 a.m. at St. Ann Church, 323 N. Van Buren St. in Stoughton.
Bishop Robert C. Morlino will preside at the Mass. Fr. Randy Budnar, pastor of St. Ann Parish, will be the homilist.
Visitation will be held on Friday, Feb. 9, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Cress Funeral Home, 206 W. Prospect St., Stoughton. Visitation will also be held prior to the Mass from 10 to 11 a.m. Interment will be at St. Ann Cemetery in Stoughton.
St. John Paul II named Dr. Junck a Knight Commander of St. Gregory the Great. He was also a member of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem. He served on the board of directors of The National Catholic Bioethics Center in Philadelphia, Pa.
Dr. Junck was born in Madison on August 21, 1942, to Margaret (Shebel) and Leonard Junck. He graduated from Edgewood High School in Madison (1960), attended Holy Cross Seminary in La Crosse, then graduated with bachelor and medical degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (1969).
He completed a medical internship at St. Mary’s Hospital San Francisco, Calif. He enlisted in the Navy and spent two years as a medical officer. He earned the Navy Commendation Medal (With Combat “V”) for his service in Vietnam.
He wed Arlene Jones on August 14, 1971, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Williamsburg, Iowa.
He completed his radiology residency and fellowship in nuclear medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin. He worked as a radiologist for 41 years in Madison, Holland, Mich., and Beloit.
He is survived by wife, Arlene; five children, Anthony (Laurie) Junck of Pensacola, Fla.; Lisa (Jon) MacDonald of Carlsbad, Calif.; Susan (Blaine) Longsworth of Brighton, Mich.; David (Jennifer) Junck of St. Charles, Ill.; and Marianne (John Pokorney) Junck of Milwaukee; 15 grandchildren; and his brothers, Tom (Linda) Junck and Lyle Jenner.
